Sometimes a smaller piece of furniture can be one of the most useful pieces in the house. Our 18" Rustic Wood Bench with Shelf was designed for those spaces where a full-size bench simply takes up too much room.

Handmade from solid wood in Western North Carolina, this compact bench combines a traditional rustic design with practical storage. Its small footprint makes it easy to use throughout the home, while the lower shelf provides additional space for shoes, baskets, towels, plants, or everyday essentials.

A Small Wood Bench for Tight Spaces

At just 18 inches wide, this bench works especially well in places where space is limited. It can serve as a small entryway bench, a place to sit while putting on shoes, or a convenient spot beside a doorway.

It also works well in bathrooms, bedrooms, mudrooms, covered porches, cabins, and other smaller spaces. The built-in shelf adds storage without requiring a larger piece of furniture.

Unlike decorative furniture that looks good but doesn't do much, this bench was designed to be useful.

Built-In Shelf for Extra Storage

The lower shelf is one of our favorite features of this 18" bench.

Use it for shoes near an entryway, folded towels in a bathroom, a basket for odds and ends, or even a favorite plant. The open design keeps the bench from feeling bulky while giving you an additional storage or display area.

The oval hand opening in the top also makes the bench easier to pick up and move when needed.

Handmade from Solid Wood

Each bench is individually made in our Western North Carolina woodshop using solid wood rather than particleboard or manufactured wood.

Natural grain patterns, knots, and variations in the wood help give every bench its own character. That's part of what makes handmade wood furniture different—no two pieces are exactly alike.

The simple construction and rustic styling are based on the kind of practical furniture that has been built and used for generations. It's furniture meant to be used, not just looked at.
